It’s three in the morning and I’ve just digested four hours of improv comedy from YouTube, which in a not-so-strange way has made me want to evaluate what I got done today (er, yesterday). So here it is, my 24-hour progress report:
- A concept/pitch for a spec feature (several messy pages of notes)
- Detailed character bios for said feature’s characters
- A rough outline of the future
- An edited outline for the “Pushing Daisies” spec
- The first 10 pages of the “Pushing Daisies” spec
- Brainstorming for some short comedic films
Not too bad, I think. I’m a little disappointed on the page count for “Pushing Daisies,” but the brainstorming and outlining process for the feature has been time-consuming. My new goal is 15-20 pages of writing per day until I’m either landing a summer job or (more likely, looking at my hometown’s economy) back in school.
(For reference, when writing a first draft I tend to average 3-4 pages an hour or so if I’ve done a thorough outline. Technically, I suppose this means I should set a goal of 24-32 pages per 8-hour day, but I want to save time for brainstorming on new projects and editing old ones.)
